In-Office Composting Program Launched

In keeping with Omicron’s commitment to sustainable operations, we are pleased to announce a new initiative at our Burrard Office: an in-office composting program!

Beginning today, we will be using a service called Growing City to help us compost in our kitchen areas on both floors. We believe that the Growing City service is perfect for us – designed to keep our kitchens sanitary, odour free, and requiring minimal effort from staff to participate. Take a look at Growing City’s compost-friendly list and join in the fun:

Did you know that organic waste makes up 45% of the solid waste entering Vancouver’s landfills? Together we can help reduce this burden on the land, and generate healthy compost in the process.  We are excited to bring this activity that many of you have embraced at home, into our office in Vancouver. We will be exploring a similar program for the Calgary office once we have assessed the success of the Vancouver initiative.

Love it! Cant wait to compost rather than garbage. It will be interesting to see how much less we throw away!

Are there any composting outlets available for condos downtown??? Half of my garbage is compostable, but I dont have an avenue to compost it (and dont want to do it on my balcony)…

Over the past 12 weeks Omicron has diverted almost one tonne of organic waste! That’s equivalent to:

- the weight of 2,571 apples
- the weight of 51 pumpkins
- the weight of 30 microwaves!

Well done!
