Do you bamboo? Get your LEED on

If you are an Omicron staff member and would like your very own bamboo plant, study hard to pass the LEED exam, and you will become part of the “bamboo clan”.

All LEED Accredited Professionals at Omicron have a beautiful bamboo plant at their workstation. This makes it easy for all Omicron staff members to identify LEED APs and also provides an incentive to pass the LEED exam and therefore, grow the Omicron bamboo garden.

o×vert initially began the green campaign by targeting a group of individuals to fulfill the LEED AP status through incorporating certification as part of their yearly Goals and Objectives review.

We started with a top-down approach, encouraging senior staff to become LEED APs (sector directors, project managers etc.). However, these seasoned professionals also have a heavy workload, and in actuality, are least likely to do the day-to-day administrative work of LEED within the project team. Therefore, our enthusiastic junior staff members have committed to lunch time study groups. To encourage our green capital, we have purchased additional LEED reference guides and hosted LEED info sessions.

To date, we have had 2 successful candidates achieve LEED AP status since our initiative began. We are expecting motivation and focus to pick up in the fall as everyone gets into back to school mode.

Omicron LEED facts:
Current LEED APs: 15
Future LEED APs: 45
New LEED APs (since initiative): 2
Active LEED projects (registered): 10
Other ‘green’ projects: 5*

* Omicron attempts to incorporate green practices whenever possible, however these projects
specifically aim to achieve a higher degree of sustainability.
