The City of Vancouver is actively working to create a green sustainable future. As a way to communicate some of these green achievements to the public for education, the City has created Green Building Audio Tours. The Vancouver Green Building Audio Tours were created through a partnership between City of Vancouver Sustainability Office and the Open Green Building Society.
The audio tours are brief 3-minute tours of sites around town that have implemented good green design. The tours are narrated by the designers of the sites to provide an overview of the building and insight to the techniques and approaches on site. It’s like having a personal tour guide to green buildings in Vancouver!
The way to join the tours can be done in two ways:
-
Keep your eyes peeled for signage at sites around town and dial into the phone numbers for the guided tour
OR
-
Go to the City’s website to see all of the green building sites and go to the sites and call at each site or listen to them all on the web.

The City also launched a public art audio tour phone in feature during the Olympics which they plan to continue into the future for public art installations.
Try them next time you are walking around town, they are fun!
Provide any comments to tours you go on for everyone to enjoy…
